For local parents, one of the perks of living on the Eastern Shore is the abundance of outdoor activities for kids to enjoy. From the beaches to the bays, the parks to the local pools, when the weather is warm we certainly aren’t short on things to do in Worcester County. But when the temperatures turn cold or when the rain pours down, activities become a tad bit harder to come by, especially in Ocean City. So when new businesses enter the scene with a focus on indoor children’s activities, we are always eager to see what’s in store. Beach Bounce will open this weekend in West Ocean City, with plans to provide play, fun, and a whole lot of bouncing for families.
“Being local, and having a daughter, I really started to see that we needed this in our community,” explained owner Nick Taghipour when we caught up with him at Beach Bounce this week. Like most parents in the area, Taghipour was finding it increasingly difficult to find fun, active ways to spend time with his young daughter, especially in the off-season. Taghipour, whose family also owns Powerhouse and SWEAT in West OC (conveniently located just a few doors down from Beach Bounce), was also eager to provide a service to the community that would encourage kids to be active. “We want to keep our kids active,” he said, as we toured the facility, which will include bounce houses, slides, and obstacle courses, along with exercise equipment designed specifically for kids.
As a family-owned and operated business, ‘family’ is the name of the game at Beach Bounce, along with health and fitness. As a natural tie-in to Powerhouse and SWEAT, Taghipour envisions Beach Bounce serving as an indoor recreational facility for children. The facility features wall-to-wall jumping, sliding, bouncing, and interactive game play. For parents, rest assured that your kids will be well monitored at all times. While adults are not allowed on the bounce equipment, the extensive surveillance system will allow parents to see what is going on in just about every inch of the facility. Massive flat screen TVs are positioned throughout the adult’s lounge, allowing parents to see what is happening during play time. “You really can see your kids from anywhere in here,” explained Taghipour.
Age ranges for jumping are 2 to 12, with plans for special jump hours for kids 5 years and under on Monday and Wednesdays, from 10am to 12:30pm. In addition to the bounce area, there will also be an arcade on site, with 20-25 games for all ages to enjoy. Of course, Beach Bounce is primed for parties and events, with two large party rooms that will each host to up to 30 kids (with the potential to combine the rooms as well). Beach Bounce is offering Grand Opening party specials; simply inquire about special pricing and promos.
The concessions will include the usual staples like pizza (which will be made in house), along with plenty of healthy snack options. “We want to keep kids active and we want to keep them healthy,” Taghipour stressed.
Beach Bounce will be open 7-days a week: 10am until 6pm on Monday through Thursday, 10am until 8pm on Friday and Saturday, and 12pm until 6pm on Sunday. For the Grand Opening Weekend – Friday, October 29 through Sunday, November 1 – there will be FREE admission for everyone. Bring the kids out for some active, family fun before hitting the trick or treat circuit (or after Saturday evening’s sugar rush).
