Does the thought of Turkey with all the trimmings spark fear in your waistline? Well, it’s no wonder! The average holiday meal contains more than 3,000 calories!
But, don’t fret, we’ve got the solution (or, at least part of it!). Before you sit down at the Thanksgiving table, head over to Pemberton Historical Park in Salisbury for the 8th Annual Turkey Trek! This “pre-turkey 5k” has become an area tradition, taking runners through the beautiful nature trails of Pemberton Park in Salisbury, MD. The race kicks off at 9:00 a.m. on Thanksgiving morning, with on-site registration beginning at 7:30 a.m. If you would like to register in advance, you can do so at the Wicomico Civic Center Box Office (Monday-Friday 9:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.)
The course is mostly flat, with one or two small hills. Refreshments and holiday pie will be available after the race (it is Thanksgiving after all)! Best of all, proceeds from the day’s event will go directly towards Pemberton Historical Park’s environmental education programs. Not to mention…it will give you a little piece of mind before you belly up to the dinner table!
