The number one, simplest Feng Shui tip for the New Year is to clear clutter from your home. Clear your home room by room of things that are no longer useful in your life.
Grab some boxes and start a box for donations. One person’s junk is another person’s treasure. Think of giving to people who could use or appreciate the things you no longer need. Not only is this a rewarding feeling but it also clears the energy from weighed down clutter, which in Feng Shui actually holds you back from things you may need to come your way.
Here’s an example: do you have a bookshelf with too many books? Get rid of books you no longer need because perhaps one day you will come across a book that could hold important information you need and you think, oh I have so many books, I can’t fit any more, and miss the opportunity to learn something new that could have brought some benefit to your future. Donate old books to your local library or pass on to someone else so that they can enjoy them or maybe help them in some way.
Closets are another major problem. There are so many junk items just shoved into closets because you figure the mess is hidden from the sight of others. Old clothes and shoes are easy to let go of because you know if you have not worn them you probably won’t. If you need extra money take them to a consignment store and buy yourself some new clothes with the extra cash. Consider organizing your space so you know exactly where everything is. This also saves you time when you are rushed to get ready in the morning.
When clutter is cleared from your home you have a more positive energy flow and opportunities for new ventures to start coming your way. Your home has a direct influence on your wellbeing. Each part of your home also has direct area that relates to all aspects of your life.
The far back left corner of your home, if you were standing at the front door looking in, is considered the wealth area. You want to be sure to have this area organized so you can enjoy more prosperity in your life. Place a healthy green plant there for growth. Use purple decor for wealth and red is always considered lucky in Chinese culture.
