It’s no secret that the ShoreBread team loves to support our local businesses. It’s also no secret that we loooove to shop! So, when we get to combine the two, it’s a great day. When Salvaged Furniture Parlour opened up in the big teal barn next to Surf Bagel in Lewes, DE back in 2013, we were giddy with excitement. We’d be lying if we said we hadn’t spent entirely too much money on their adorable, shabby chic furniture and decor.
Salvaged Furniture Parlour was started by Brynn Byerly and, when they expanded by 3,000 sq. feet in February of 2014, she brought on her business partner Michelle Hepting. The store is filled with shabby chic decor and furniture, both old and new. If you’re looking for a unique piece of furniture, you certainly won’t be let down. The shop also offers Paint Your Own Piece Chalk Paint® Workshops where you can bring in your own piece of furniture and transform it with their help. They even have warehouse sales from time to time where they offer great deals on pieces of furniture they just didn’t get around to refinishing. Another perk? They have a VIP group on Facebook where members can get first crack at new products and discounts!
You can imagine our delight when we found out that Salvaged was opening a second location in Berlin, MD. The new store will be located in the building that Sea La Vie once called home. We talked to Brynn Byerly, one of the partners, and she told us that the new store will be called HOUSE by Salvaged. Brynn explained that in addition to herself and Michelle (the current owners of Salvaged), the new store will be opened with the help their friends, and new business partners, Andrea and Corey Canon.
Byerly went on to explain that the new store “is going to be a mix of new furniture and antique furniture; not as beachy as Salvaged. We also plan to carry more natural wood pieces and, hopefully, more eco-friendly products. We’re currently working on that.” The new HOUSE by Salvaged will be the only stockist of Annie Sloan Chalk Paint® in the Berlin area. Brynn told us the Annie Sloan Chalk Paint® is a huge seller for them and when the previous stockist in Berlin closed its doors, there was a little void. Brynn is hoping the new store will help fill that void for the town of Berlin.
The store is scheduled to open on April 1st but will hold a soft opening in late March.
The ShoreBread team can’t wait for the new HOUSE by Salvaged in Berlin, MD to open. We’re especially excited about the new store’s proximity to the ShoreBread headquarters and we’re already looking forward to sneaking over there on our lunch breaks. You can follow along here on their Facebook page for updates on the new store’s progress.
