We write about Liquid Assets fairly often, and for good reason. An Ocean City mainstay, we love Liquid Assets for the food, the ambiance, the wine and cocktails, the doughnuts (if you haven’t tried them…go.now.), and the friendly staff. But this time of year, we especially love the fact that they stay open all winter long. Even better is the fact that every Saturday throughout the winter, Liquid Assets hosts a FREE wine tasting. ‘Free’ and ‘wine’ really do go so well together, don’t you think?? What’s more, the successive wine tastings culminate in one, spectacular Grand Tasting, to be held this Saturday, February 21, from 12pm-3pm.
Liquid Assets General Manager Paula Ross explained that every Saturday during the off-season, one purveyor comes to the restaurant for a free tasting, pouring five different wines for interested patrons. “The Grand Wine tasting is all 10 of my purveyors, so there will be 10 stations with five wines from all over the world,” said Ross. This is the 9th year for the Grand Wine tasting, which has grown exponentially in popularity over the years. Free wine on a bleak Saturday in February? Count us in.
There’s more than wine to sample, three years ago the event was expanded to include a beer garden featuring local craft brews. On tap this year are Fin City and Burley Oak. In addition to beer and wine, there are regular cocktails at the bar of course, along with the regular dining menu. New this year is a ‘food bar,’ with lunch items available and ranging from $2 to $10. “Options include Kobe hot dogs, a cup of seafood gumbo, meatball skewers, hummus plate, raw oysters, etc…” explained Ross.
“This is our thank you to our loyal customers who have supported us over our 30-year-long journey. We love to share our passion for good wine and food as often as we can,” Ross said.
So grab your ID and a few friends and meet us at Liquid Assets on Saturday to warm up with some wine, small bites, and craft beer!
