We’ve been hearing the familiar rumbling of classic cars all morning, which means the annual Cruisin’ Ocean City is underway here in OCMD. But that’s not all that’s on tap for the weekend. In addition to Spring Cruisers in Berlin and Ocean City, Delmarva will also host the Saltwater Brew ‘N’ Que in Chincoteague, the Centennial Bio Blitz at Assateague, and the Baldcyrpress Bluegrass Festival in Delaware, to name a few. Fingers crossed for a dry and sunny weekend so that we can join you all in enjoying these wonderful events on Delmarva:

3rd Friday: Urban Artscapes

When: Friday, May 20, 5pm-8pm

Where: Downtown Salisbury

What: Downtown Salisbury will celebrate their monthly 3rd Friday event this week, with artists, crafters, food trucks, interactive art, public art and more. This month’s theme is Urban Artscapes, with a focus on architecture and cityscapes. This month’s 3rd Friday will also include the Meredith Rounsley EP Release Show of the Plaza. 2016 Saltwater Brew ‘N’ Que

When: Friday, May 20 & Saturday, May 21, 4pm-9pm(Fri.) & 11am-7pm (Sat.)

Where: Chincoteague, Virginia (Chincoteague Fairgrounds)

What: Head on down to Chincoteague this weekend to enjoy the 2nd Annual Saltwater Brew ‘N’ Que, which will include plenty of BBQ, unlimited beer tastings, wing samplings, live country music, vendors, and the Kansas City Barbeque Society Competition. Tickets are available at www.saltwaterbbq.com.

26th Annual Cruisin’ Ocean City

When: Thursday, May 19 – Sunday, May 22

Where: Ocean City, MD

What: Cruisers will roll into town all weekend long in OCMD for the 26th annual cruisers event, which is one of the largest hot rod shows on the East Coast. The nationally recognized event attracts more than 3,500 customs, hot rods, street machines, and classics. Click here for more information.

Berlin Chamber of Commerce Spring Cruisers

When: Saturday, May 21, 10am

Where: Main Street, Berlin

What: If you want to enjoy the cruisers without the crowds and traffic in Ocean City, we suggest heading to Berlin’s Main Street on Saturday morning to see the classic cars on display. While there, take advantage of the local shops and restaurants, which will be open and welcoming car enthusiasts all day long!

Veterans Appreciation Day

When: Saturday, May 21, 1pm-4pm

Where: Poplar Hill Mansion, Salisbury

What: Poplar Hill Mansion is honoring members of the Armed Forces on May 21 for Veteran’s Appreciation Day. Veterans and their families, as well as the public, will gather for the event, which will also honor the 50th anniversary of the Vietnam War. This event is free and open to the public. Butterflies at Pocomoke State Park

When: Saturday, May 21, 10am-12pm

Where: Pocomoke River State Park

What: Enjoy a morning of learning about the Monarch Butterfly, one of the most recognizable species in America. The Monarch travels thousands of miles across the U.S., Canada and Mexico, however the precious specious is currently being threatened due to the loss of milkweed habitats. Learn more about these important creatures and how you can turn your own backyard into a habitat for monarchs. Cost is free.

Baldcypress Bluegrass Festival

When: Saturday, May 21, 12pm-6pm

Where: Roman Fisher Farm at the edge of the Great Cypress Swamp (Frankford)

What: A benefit for the Delaware Wild Lands (DWL), the Baldcypress Bluegrass Festival will include five bands with six hours of music, craft brews, food trucks and more! Food trucks will include Mr. Bar-B-Que, BK Catering, Vinnie’s Pizza Truck, and Vanderwende Farm Creamery, with craft brews from Crooked Hammock and Dogfish. Live music will include Grammy-nominated musician, Courtney Hartman, guitarist and vocalist for the all-female foursome, Della Mae,  Kindred Spirits, Saltwater Stringband, Flatland Drive, and a group formed for this festival called New and Spare Fools (featuring Mickey Justice and Todd Smith of Such Fools, Jon Simmons and Martin Wirtz of New and Used Bluegrass, and Wes Parks of No Spare Time).

Centennial Bio Blitz

When: Saturday, May 21, 8am-4pm

Where: Assateague Island National Seashore

What: Maryland Coastal Bays and the annual Great Worcester Herp Search will join forces with the National Park Service for the BioBlitz Fun Day on Saturday, May 21. Teams will be formed (you can either sign up for a team or be assigned to a team) to identify park species, including birds, plants, reptiles, amphibians, GIS, shells, beach intertidal zone sampling, butterflies, and flying insects. The morning session begins at 9am, with an afternoon session to follow at 1pm. Pre-register before May 6 and you’ll receive a free hot dog lunch. Spring Shorebird and Horseshoe Crab Festival

When: Friday, May 20 – Sunday, May 22

Where: The Wetlands Institute

What: The Wetlands Institute invites you to join them for a festival that celebrates the shorebird migration and horeshoe crab spawning season here on Delmarva. The event will include guided shorebird viewing walks, back-bay kayaking tours and wildlife boat tours, shorebird banding demonstrations, horseshoe crab teaching tank and aquaculture tours, and more. Proceeds from the event will help support The Wetlands Institute’s conservation and education programs focused on shorebird and horseshoe crab conservation. Tickets can be purchased at wetlandsinstitute.org or at the door.

Earth Travel Apparel Trademark Party

When: Saturday, May 21, 7pm

Where: The Alibi Room, OCMD

What: Earth Travel Apparel will celebrate their brand’s trademark party this Saturday in downtown Ocean City at The Alibi Room. Headlining band C2 & The Brothers Reed will perform and will be accompanied by great food and drink specials and new arrivals from the ETA summer line. K9 Heeling Socialization Event

When: Sunday, May 22, 12pm-3pm

Where: K9 Heeling, Eden

What: K9 Heeling will host a Dog Socialization event this Sunday, with the small dogs gathering at noon and the larger dogs socializing at 1. After, everyone is invited to enjoy a cook out and a little human socialization time as well!
