Can products make you fat?

The answer is most definitely…yes! Think about the food that you
eat. If it’s loaded with toxins and preservatives your body has no idea
how to process it. It affects the hormones and glands that regulate your
body. As we age our metabolism slows down making it harder to burn
calories. These ” chemical calories” will make you fat.

As many of you may well know, “you are what you eat.” Did you ever think
about what you put on your skin? Up to 60% of it may be absorbed into your
skin. As an Esthetician, I am alarmed by the products in drug stores
and even what doctors are selling. Who would think that your Doctor or
Dermatologist would sell you carcinogenic products?  As unbelieveable as it sounds, trust me it
happens everyday. I am not out to bash anyone, but just wish to help you be more
aware of ingredients for your own health and safety.

Being that we live at the beach, we do use a lot of sun screen. It is
important to know that they are all not good. I hear people say, “oh I
was told to use this one because it has Avobenzone.”
My response is “oh,
who told you to rub a toxic chemical sun screen all over your body and the bodies of your children?”
It is best to use Zinc Oxide; it is considered safe and has
anti-inflammatory benefits. Awareness is key to keeping your body
chemical free.

Here is a list of some ingredients you don’t want in your products:

Avobenzone, Aluminum, Petrolatum, Lanolin, Mineral Oil, Formaldehyde,
Parabens, Talc, Phthalates and Propylene Glycol. There are so many more
but this will be a guideline especially if you are purchasing from a
drug store. There are a lot more fillers and less active ingredients. I
think professsional skin care is very important. If you would spend
money on a designer handbag or clothes then why not spend a little extra
on your skin?

Feel free to bring in all of your products, and visit me at Robin Walter Day
