It’s okay; sip up on that red wine! Studies find so many health benefits of drinking this alcoholic beverage that I had to share it with you. Now trust me, I am not encouraging those of you who do not drink to start, but for those who enjoy a glass now and then, you have a good reason to celebrate. For those who don’t, you too can still reap the benefits by taking a supplement called Resveratrol that comes from the red grape.
I know many of you have heard that red wine is good for you or maybe you know about the “French Paradox”. It indicates that French people eat lots of dairy and saturated fat, but because of the wine intake, have way less cases of heart disease. While there is something to that theory, I don’t suggest following it to a tee, or thinking of that “diet” as a cure all. There are cultural and other differences that would affect the results.
We have way more additives in our American diet, not to mention way less exercise. If you have ever been to France, you notice that everyone walks and long distances—whereas we get in the car to drive a block. Eating well and exercising regularly are equally important for good health.
Many reasons why red wine will make you feel fine:
- It won’t suppress your immune system like other alcoholic beverages; it will help to stimulate your immune system.
- Resveratrol may lower risk for Alzheimer’s disease and dementia.
- Lessens risk of cancer and kidney stone formations.
- Lowers blood pressure, prevents hardening of the arties, blood clots, reduces bad cholesterol and heart disease.
- Anti-aging, anti-inflammatory and anti-bacterial.
- And lastly contains Melatonin that could improve your sleep!
So sip up! Cheers to your health!
