Valentine’s Day is just around the corner…although I’m sure your local Wal-Mart, CVS or Rite Aid has made that glaringly obvious by now. Whether you are making plans to dine out with your sweetheart or plan on taking the holiday as an excuse to splurge on a killer meal with friends, our local restaurants are guaranteed to have specials and deals featured on February 14. Here’s a few to get you started…

DiFebos

789 Garfield Parkway, Bethany Beach, DE

302-539-4550

DiFebos is certainly thinking outside of the box when it comes to Valentine’s Day dining this year. The Aphrodisiac Blind Wine Dinner offers an adventurous twist on dining…blindfolds. The five-course meal includes 5 wine pairings, each presented by a sommelier. Throughout the entire meal diners will wear blindfolds, challenging themselves to completely use their sense of taste and smell rather than sight. The meal is $70 person – reservations are strongly recommended.

Fresco’s  – Pino’s Vino Club Seduced by Chocolate

8203 Coastal Highway, Ocean City, MD

Fresco’s is the perfect place for a romantic night out – the food, the ambiance and the wine make it a popular spot for Valentine’s Day in Ocean City. While we highly suggest nabbing a reservation here for Valentine’s Day, there is also Pino’s Vino Club Seduced by Chocolate to consider on February 11th starting at 6pm. The five-course dinner is $45 per person (plus tax and gratuity) and includes the following: chocolate dusted sea scallops with vanilla butter and arugula, roasted parsnip vanilla and white chocolate soup, chocolate pappardelle with walnuts and cream, pepper crusted beef tenderloin with chocolate port sauce, and a molten chocolate cascabel volcano. It’s the perfect opportunity to celebrate Valentine’s Day early or to simply revel in your love of chocolate.

Galaxy 66 Bar & Grille

6601 Coastal Highway, Ocean

410-723-6762

www.galaxy66barandgrille.com

Galaxy 66 has been closed for the past few weeks, and we can’t wait to get back to one of our favorite Ocean City dining spots. With the restaurant and bar set to re-open on February 7th, Valentine’s Day is the perfect excuse to head to 66th street and indulge in some fantastic cuisine. Beyond the specials, we’ve got our eyes on the house-made bacon (because who doesn’t love bacon), the espresso rubbed flank steak, and the Galaxy 66 Chocolate box for two filled with caramel, toffee and chocolate mousse. Round out your evening with a bottle of red wine and we’d say you’ve had a successful Valentine’s Day…date or no date.

Lewes Winter Fest Barkfest Yappy Hour

Ok, so this isn’t exactly a dining event but for those of you who can’t resist spending at least part of Valentine’s Day with your furry, four-legged love, head to Irish Eyes of Lewes for the Winter Fest Bark Fest Yappy Hour. The event will benefit the Georgetown SPCA. Happy Hour runs from 5pm to 7pm, but there are also shopping and dining specials throughout the Historic Commercial District to enjoy. The Delaware SPCA’s Georgetown shelter will also be on site, soliciting donations for blankets, sheets, pet food, kitty litter, toys, dog bones and bleach for cleaning kennels. Irish Eyes will be featuring specialty beverages such as the Bark-tini, Cat-atonic, Mutt-ini, as well as a 50/50 raffle benefiting the SPCA. Irish Eyes will also be donating 10 percent of their total food sale for the entire day to the SPCA. Who needs romance when you can help our local shelter animals while having a good time?

Ruth’s Chris

11501 Maid at Arms Way in the Glen Riddle Clubhouse, Ocean City, MD

888-632-4747

www.ruthschris.com

If you really want to impress that special someone – or if you really want to spoil yourself – then we suggest going big with a night out at Ruth’s Chris. We don’t get here enough, but when we do we are never disappointed. It’s the perfect setting for a special evening out. Of course you’ll want to get a steak, so go ahead and opt for the porterhouse for two. If you’re not a red meat eater, there are plenty of options, from fresh lobster to lamb chops. Save room for dessert, there’s crème brulee and bread pudding with whiskey sauce to consider.

The Parkway

114 Garfield Parkway, Bethany Beach, DE

302-537-7500

www.parkwaydana.com

The Parkway in Bethany Beach consistently exceeds our expectations. An old favorite of ours, we’re always disheartened when they close their doors for a few weeks every winter. Fortunately for us, The Parkway will be open Valentine’s Day for their special Lover’s Dinner for Two. We’ve acquired a long list of Parkway favorites over the years, including the crème brulee, crab cakes and the rack of lamb. But we’ll let you pick you own favorites…
